Frequently Asked Questions
Last updated: October 2026
These are the questions people ask us most about business licenses and fees in Las Vegas, answered the short way first. This site is not a government agency; we estimate from published schedules and point you to the official office for the final word. For the calculator itself, start on the home page.
How much is a business license in Las Vegas?
Two governments, two licenses. The Nevada State Business License is $200 a year ($500 for corporations, nonprofit corporations exempt). The City of Las Vegas charges $150 at application, plus a semiannual fee based on your gross revenue that the city sets at application and each renewal.
Why can't this site quote the city semiannual fee?
The city publishes that the fee is based on gross revenue, but it does not publish a general tier table; the amounts live in Title 6 of the municipal code and are applied to your category and revenue when you apply and renew. We would rather show you the verified numbers and label the rest honestly than invent a figure.
When do the licenses renew?
The state license renews annually by the end of your anniversary month, and a late renewal adds a $100 penalty. The city license renews semiannually, in advance.
Do home-based businesses need anything extra?
Yes. The city requires a one-time $50 Home Occupation Permit for home-based businesses, on top of both licenses.
Are nonprofits exempt?
Nonprofit corporations are exempt from the Nevada State Business License. City licensing still applies as the city directs, so confirm your city obligations with the Business Licensing Division.
Is this an official government website?
No. This is an independent resource operated by Perfect Option MBC, LLC. We are not a government agency and we are not affiliated with any city or state. Every estimate points back to the official published schedule so you can confirm the number at the source.
Is the calculator free?
Yes. The calculator and this guide are free to use, with no account and no sign-up. The numbers you enter are calculated in your browser and are not stored or sent to us.
How current are the fees?
We work from the fee schedules and tax rules the city publishes, and we update our math when the schedules change. Fees do change, sometimes mid-year, so treat every result as a well-sourced estimate and confirm the final figure with the city before you budget around it.
